Giving Back to Our Community
At National Garage Door Atlanta, we believe in our community. That is why when the idea was raised about how to give back and help others in need outside of just doing a good job on every garage door service, it made sense for us as an organization with so much passion around customer satisfaction, we decided there are many needs within our community which require assistance—and stepped up accordingly.
Our first project focuses on something that hits close to home: asthma. It’s a condition that many in our community struggle with. As moms and dads, we’ve seen first-hand how asthma and severe allergies can affect children growing up, and many others have seen how it can affect adults as well. It’s difficult to go through life with these conditions, but we don’t think they should keep anyone from achieving their dreams for the future. That’s why we created our first National Garage Door Atlanta Asthma & Allergy Scholarship.
The $1,000 scholarship will help a high achieving student with asthma or allergies get the college degree they deserve. College is always challenging for those who suffer from asthma attacks or serious allergies, but this scholarship may make all of that more achievable as it allows them to overcome obstacles on an uneven playing field.

We know that oftentimes, the effects appear without warning, and once activated they change someone’s day to day rituals in an instant. However, we believe asthma and allergies are no reason to stop pursuing their dreams. That’s why we want help a student with asthma and allergies by providing financial assistance so they can continue the path of high education towards their future career of choice.
Our committee is looking for a scholarship recipient to be chosen each year. We encourage all students who are interested in receiving this scholarship and have great dedication towards overcoming asthma or allergies, that they apply. We are thrilled to receive so many applications for this scholarship. We look forward in reading all the essays and selecting a winner.
Eligibility
Below are the eligibility requirements:
• You have been diagnosed with asthma or suffer from any type of allergy
• You have been accepted to, or are currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program at a college or university in the United States
• You carry a minimum 3.0 GPA
Essay Topics
1. In what ways has having asthma or allergies shaped or changed your life plans? How did you go about confronting and overcoming these limitations to push forward with your goals?
2. What’s one thing you think would make the biggest difference in how society treats asthma and allergies?
3. If you could give one piece of advice to someone who has just learned, they have asthma or allergies what would it be? Why?
